American Diner Guide to Fried Eggs

American Diner Breakfast

If you find yourself in Chicago, stop by Yolk for an authentic American Diner experience. You can take 20 minutes just to read the extensive menu.  The food is hot, fast and filling.  Denny’s, Waffle House and IHOP are national chains trying to service the same market but nothing beats a family-run establishment.

Our handy guide below will help you order (or cook) your eggs to perfection. Pair any of these eggs with our Hillbilly Hashbrowns.

Sunny Side Up

This is what most Brits refer to as a ‘fried egg’.  The egg is only cooked on one side.  The yolks are super runny and the whites are still wobbly

Over Easy

Carefully turned over and cooked on both sides.  The yolks are runny and the white is cooked through.  Flip and cook for about 30 seconds.

Over Medium

Carefully turned over and cooked on both sides.  The yolks are soft and the white is cooked through. Flip and cook for 1 – 2 minutes.

Over Hard

Carefully turned over and cooked on both sides.  The yolks are hard and the white is cooked through. Flip and cook for 2 – 3 minutes.
